Unwrapping PPWR: Recyclability

EUROPEN and Packaging Europe are collaborating to help business understand the content and implications of the upcoming PPWR requirements through a series of four live sessions hosted by Packaging Europe on LinkedIn. In these live events, experts from EUROPEN and industry will summarize key demands – pertaining to waste prevention, recycled content, recyclability and reuse – explore their practical connotations, and answer questions from the value chain.

Recyclability is the cornerstone of PPWR as all packaging placed on the EU market will have to be designed for recycling as of 2030 and recycled at scale as of 2035. Yet, many of the conditions for implementation of this key requirement will have to be defined in the coming years. Meanwhile, packaging manufacturers have and continue working on improving the design of their packaging so, how can companies anticipate the recyclability requirements? And which framework conditions need to be put in place to assist them in this transition? Looking specifically at flexible formats, beverage cartons and labelling, what challenges and opportunities will recyclability entail?

Libby Munford is joined by Emilie Bartolini Government Affairs Lead EMENA at Avery Dennison, Jovana Gojkovic Head of Public Affairs & Government Relations at Tetra Pak, Gerald Rebitzer Director Sustainability at Amcor, and Marzia Scopelliti Senior Public Affairs Manager at EUROPEN to discover more.
