  • Following the European Commission’s legislative proposal in July 2014 to review the EU waste legislation, including the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive, EUROPEN commissioned the consultancies cyclos/HTP to assess the impacts of the proposed changes to the methodology for calculating national packaging recycling rates. The executive summary of the study can be downloaded below. The full impact assessment by cyclos/HTP is available for EUROPEN members and to other stakeholders upon request.

  • New EUROPEN’s in-depth analysis of official EU data on the evolution of packaging waste rates demonstrates the packaging supply chain’s continued commitment towards Europe’s resource efficiency objectives. This is reflected by the yearly increases in packaging recycling rates and decreasing packaging waste going to landfill. This report aims to inform EUROPEN members and stakeholders amid the current review by the European Commission of the EU targets in the Packaging & Packaging Waste Directive (PPWD).
